With the X-Games taking over Los Angeles this weekend, we’ve seen a lot of special releases coming from DC Shoes. To go along with the Travis Pastrana and Robbie Maddison editions we’ve seen earlier this week, DC brings another collaboration just in time for the X-Games 17 action to begin.
For this version of the DC Shoes Versaflex, DC has teamed up with the folks from Nitro Circus. Nitro Circus, also sponsors of many X-Games athletes, has their lightning bomb logo printed across the background of the DC logo on the side panel. The Black and Grey base of the colorway is accented in the Red, White and Blue of the Nitro Circus colors. On the function side of things, an ImpactFX midsole and full length air bag provide cushioning, as the key fex grooves of the outsole make the Versaflex capable of taking on just about any sport you can dream up.

Nemanja Vidic of Manchester United holds the trophy after a 4-0 victory over the MLS All-Stars.
words // Nick Engvall
As if American soccer fans needed more proof that we’re behind the curve when it comes to talented soccer players, the MLS All-Stars lost a disheartening 4-0 match against Manchester United on Wednesday. The MLS squad put together a few decent runs in the first 20 minutes of the match, but a goal from Anderson, followed by Park Ji-Sung just before halftime, was only the beginning of the downfall.
Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck added goals in the second half to make the final 4-0, Manchester United. Adding another blow to the soccer fans of the nation, after the tough loss in the Women’s World Cup.
It leaves the question for many as to why the MLS All-Star game even features an international team. What our your thoughts?

Dimitar Berbatov gets a little pushy in his adidas soccer cleats.
Patrice Evra controls the ball wearing Nike soccer cleats.
David Beckham was equipped with some gold adidas soccer boots with the names of his children stitched in.
Park Ji-Sung controls the ball with his Nike soccer boots on his way to a goal.

As a former college athlete, running was always integrated into my strength and conditioning programs. But when choosing running shoes, I went more for style than comfort and technology. After graduating in May, I have had the opportunity to work closely with the running category at Eastbay and have begun running more for pleasure while still possessing my competitive ways. Training for 5ks used to seem like a challenge, but after recently signing up for my first marathon in December, a 5k is something I can enjoy on my “easy” training days.
I am a fairly efficient runner and have always gravitated towards a lightweight running shoe. Nikes, more specifically the LunarGlide, have always been my shoes of choice, but ever since I tested out the Asics Gel-Blur33, I will never look back.
From the day I opened my Asics shoe box, I knew we were going to be the perfect match. The bright magenta color I chose perfectly emulated my personality, while the sleek design tells others that I am not only on the roads for fun, but to accomplish my goal: 26.2 miles.
The cushioning of the Asics Gel Blur-33 keeps me looking forward to my runs, no matter how long they may be. I have dreaded my hour-long runs, but due to the cushioning the shoe has to offer, neither my feet nor my 33 joints have suffered. For a lightweight performance shoe, the Asics Gel Blur-33 has impressed me with the cushioning and support that it offers. After years of playing sports, my knees need all the shock absorption they can get, and the Asics make me feel like I am running on clouds.
The ComforDry™ sockliner provides a snug fit that prevents your foot from slipping and has helped reduce the amount of moisture retained in the shoe. While the sockliner does a great job of keeping my feet dry, the first few runs in the Asics Gel Blur-33 were a little discomforting because of the sockliner. It took about 25-30 miles to loosen up and break in to the point of complete comfort. I am the type of runner who prefers a little more room to wriggle, but if you have the patience that I did to break the shoe in, you will love it more than you could have imagined.
Overall, I would rate this shoe an A-. I am constantly raving about the ability to take full advantage of the 7.9 ounces while not forfeiting the cushioning. The sockliner was originally a bit snug for my liking, but after breaking it in I am confident we will cross the finish line together in December in style and in comfort. After always being swayed towards the Nike Swoosh, I can confidently say I will never look back.

Maryland native and X-Games legend Travis Pastrana will look to repeat his 2010 Gold Medal performance in Moto X Freestyle and Moto X Speed and Style. He’ll have a lot to live up to considering last year he landed the first ever double backflip in X-Games history. Pastrana’s long-time partnership with DC Shoes has been a big factor in his rally car passion, where he’s become somewhat of an internet superstar through viral videos, and he’s even venturing into NASCAR.
Just in time for the X-Games in Los Angeles that begin Thursday, DC Shoes has a special make up designed of the DC Shoes Frenzy. Featuring carbon fiber accents and Travis’ number 199 on the forefoot, the DC Shoes Frenzy TP is done up in a combination of Black and Yellow. Throughout the upper a unique laser print adds some flare, but a closer look reveals the pring is actually made up of Pastrana’s number, 199. DC’s air bag cushioning and unmistakable padded tongue and collar provide comfort and protection for those harsh landings. Be sure to check out Travis at the X-Games which begin Thursday and run through Sunday.

While we may enjoy checking out the footwear every week’s Soccer Watch coverage, the reality is, most of us have lives that just don’t have a budget for the same boots the pros wear. That’s exactly the reason that adidas has created the adidas Predito line. It comes with the look and feel of the storied adidas Predator.
Despite being priced well below the top of the line Predator, the adidas Predito TRX FG weighs in at just 9.0 ounces thanks to the use of water-resistent synthetic leather materials used throughout the upper. EVA Foam provides comfort and cushioning as the material of choice for the insole. However, traction is what this week’s Wallpaper is all about. The adidas Predito TRX FG uses TraXion FG technology and unique stud configuration, including a secondary set through the midfoot to increase grip and acceleration.

The upper is then reinforced with a synthetic overlay that adds just a touch of support without weighing you down. Impact protection and cushioning is provided by adidas’ trusted adiPRENE technology. The final touches on the adidas Climacool Ultra X include an adiWEAR outsole that is perfectly placed in high-wear areas to increase durability.

Throughout the 90′s, before the term ‘swag’ was a part of pop culture, there was Deion Sanders, who would probably had his picture next to the word in the dictionary if the term was ever included. For a guy that seemed to have as many nicknames as he did signature shoes, it’s no surprise his legacy is still being carried on by Nike.
The Nike Air Max Diamond Turf no longer carries Prime Time’s baseball and football jersey numbers on the tongue, but fans of the two-sport star will still recognize the shoe as one of his best signature models. Although this colorway featuring White, Black and Varsity Royal was never around when he was on the diamond or turf, you can imagine he might have been dancing his way into the end zone while with the Dallas Cowboys wearing it.

DC Shoes has perfect timing with the arrival of the latest Robbie Maddison edition of the DC Shoes Command. The Australian Moto X daredevil is headed to Los Angeles later this week with new goals and aspirations that will surely awe the crowds. Robbie will get his first shot at competing in the RallyCross and Rally Car Racing events at X-Games 17. According to ESPN, Robbie is planning on doubling up on last year’s Volt, which netted him a silver medal. The double Volt would mean he’ll rotate his body two 360 degree spins on the side of the bike while flying hundreds of feet in the air.
Robbie’s latest makeup from DC Shoes is equipped for action with ImpactFX midsole air cushioning and an extra padding in the collar and tongue. The classic DC style reinvented for more comfort and impact absorption features the easily recognizable DC Shoes logo across the heel area with crazy graphics filling the logo, while on the tongue tag resides Robbie’s signature. We can’t help but wonder if the graphics represent the high-flying history of Robbie Maddison.
